Miro Remo Wins Again at Cinematik
Director Miro Remo received the Mayor of Piešťany’s Award for the film Raději zešílet v divočině at the Cinematik Festival in 2025. This marks his fourth award at the festival. Remo’s previous films had also received recognition from the jury.
The film follows twins living beyond civilization. Their world is filled with silence, the harshness of nature, and childlike innocence. Freedom here is not just beautiful – it can also be unbearable.
The jury praised the film’s storytelling. In their statement, they said:
“The jury appreciated the extraordinarily free, playful, and inventive cinematic language, which, like an emotional rollercoaster, presents the world of twins living outside civilization in all its poetry, prose, gentle dreaming, but also harsh reality. The boldness to experiment, enrich the storytelling with stylization, and yet retain the authenticity of the characters allows the audience to feel the brothers’ lives as an eternal struggle between the free human spirit and the cruel reality of life.”
The film blends visual poetry with a realistic portrayal of its characters. Its daring approach, paired with authentic performances, lets viewers feel the protagonists’ inner struggles firsthand.
The award confirms that Miro Remo can captivate both critics and audiences. His films have become a notable part of Central European cinema, showing that freedom can be breathtakingly beautiful – and at times, unbearably intense.
